In a joint for a lift tube for a mineral oil or gas well wherein the facing ends of tubes 1, 2 each have tapered external screwthreads, a coupling sleeve 3 has at each end thereof an internal screwthreaded portion adapted to be screwed on to a respective tube, and, near each end and between that end and the screwthreaded portion, an internal annular groove 5 containing an 0-ring of rubber-elastic material adapted to bear against the preferably machined external surfaces 7 of the tubes.
