Abstract
954,809. Mechanical couplings for cable armouring. G. M. PRATLEY. Aug. 8, 1962 [Aug. 8, 1961], No. 28534/61. Heading H2E. A cable gland has a body 1 with a projecting boss 2 bored at 3 for the passage of cable conductors 4 and counterbored and screw-threaded at the cable entrance 5 to receive a tapered screw-threaded member 6 and a complementarily tapered sleeve 8 between which the cable armouring is clamped, the boss 2 having one groove 14 into which fits the end 13 of a neoprene shroud 12 and a second largerdiameter groove 16 for mounting a protective metal bush 15. An exit counterbore 21 in body 1 may be filled with sealing compound 22 when the cable 9 is mounted in the gland, and a flange 18 with a waterproofing ring 20 used to attach the gland to a wall of an electrical apparatus. The bush 15 is retained on the boss 2 by the engagement of a screw 17 in groove 16.
