Abstract
1389912 Cable glands RAYCHEM CORP 4 May 1972 [5 May 1971] 20790/72 Heading H2E [Also in Division F2] In a heat-shrinkable insulating sleeve 1, comprising a cylindrical portion 2 having at one end an internal annular projection 4 which engages a complementary groove 5 in an electrical connector 6 when the sleeve 1 is shrunk on to the connector 6, the other end of the cylindrical portion tapering down into a strain relief portion 3 of diminishing wall thickness which shrinks down on to a cable 7 connected to connector 6, the material of portion 2 is of greater shore hardness than that of portion 3. Preferably, the sleeve is formed as an integral part by injection-moulding, the transition between the portions of different hardness occurring in the tapering region. Preferred hardness values for portions 2 and 3 are 80 and 40 Shore units respectively. Such a sleeve may be used to couple a flexible pipe to a fixed duct.
