Abstract

1483755 Cable glands BICC Ltd 20 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 27624/74 Heading H2E A gland comprises two annular members 4, 5 (at least one being metallic) movable towards each other in order to deform a contact 7 about the metallic sheathing 2 of a cable, the contact comprising a metal sleeve 12 with a rigid collar 11 at each end. The members 4, 5, which support seals 6, 8 and a washer 9, screw together to move the collars 11 towards each other and deform the sleeve 12 radially inwardly. The sleeve 12 has a minimum thickness increasing towards the collars; it may have a smooth or grooved bore and be integral with the collars.
