Abstract

607,393. Inductances. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., BRADLEY, R. W., and HALLETT, L. W. Feb. 1, 1946, No. 3264. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A loading-coil case comprises a box 1 housing the coils 3 and a cover 2 provided with two elbows 9, displaced on either side of the longitudinal axis of the box, and facing opposite ends; the coil-connecting leads 8 passing through the elbows. The box 1 is inserted in a protecting case 12 into which compound is poured to fill the spaces between the cases 1, 12 and extend into the elbows up to plugs 17. A protecting cover 13 with eyebolts 15 is provided for the case 12 and serves as a chamber for the cable joints 18. For transit purposes the leads 8 are secured in metal sleeves sweated to the elbows, Fig. 4 (not shown). For buried installations, cases may be installed on their sides on top of one another in manholes, bitumen-impregnated canvas bags replacing the outer cases 12.
