Abstract

577,938. Non-return valves. LODER, J. May 30, 1941, No. 6950. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 21, 1940.] [Class 135] A non-return valve, particularly for the suction conduit of a petrol dispensing apparatus, is fitted with a lifterrod 5 slidably mounted in a bore of the casing cover 6 and covered in a fluid-tight manner by a cap 8 screwed into the cover. The valve member 3 has a depending guide spindle engaging a guide socket supported by the valve seat 2, and a bracket 4 adapted to be engaged when it is desired to lift the valve manually by the lifter-rod which is provided with a manipulating knob 7. In a modification, the valve is guided by a spider engaging the seat aperture and a tubular stem engaging a guide socket in a detachable cover. The valve is manually opened by a pusher rod arranged below the valve member. In another form, the valve is lifted by a lever pivoted at one end to the valve casing and at the other to a nut mounted on a spindle provided with a valve-like sealing collar and rotatably mounted in the casing.
