Abstract
286,903. Blakeborough, R. A., Brotherton, C., and Wood, T. April 11, 1927. F l u i d - actuated valves. - A valve device for preventing reverse flow has a butterfly valve 4 connected by a link 6 and rod 7 to an actuacting piston 8 controlled by a piston auxiliary valve 14 actuated by a piston 14<3> loaded by weights 18 and subject to the pressure in the main conduit. Conduit pressure is admitted through a pipe 16 having connection with the conduit above and below the main valve and provided with a doubleseated ball valve 17, so that the higher pressure is transmitted through the axial bore 14<2> in the valve member to the piston 14<3>. The central valve is formed with an annular groove so that when it is in its raised position, conduit pressure is admitted to the underside of the main piston to hold the main valve open. When in the open position the link 6 is protected by a stream line tubular casing engaging a corresponding boss on the valve member. The piston rod has an extension 7<1> adapted to close a cock 20 on the control conduit as the main valve approaches its seat.
