Abstract

287,737. Blakeborough, R. A., and Blakeborough, J. B. April 28, 1927. Fluid-actuated valves. A valve device adapted to prevent return flow comprises a butterfly valve b actuated by a piston g loaded by weights m and subject on one side to upstream pressure admitted through a port i' and on the other side to downstream pressure through a Pitot tube k and check valve n. The check valve member has a central aperture controlled bv a needle valve so that while an unrestricted flow is permitted from the actuating cylinder, the flow in the reverse direction is adjustably restricted to limit the rate of closing. In the open position of the valve the link e connecting the lower part of the valve member with the piston rod is protected by a stream-line tubular guard i<1> engaging a corresponding boss on the valve member.
