Abstract

533,906. Valves. BLAKEBOROUGH, R. A., and KLOUMAN, F. A. Dec. 15, 1939, No. 32276. [Class 135] A self-closing valve of the kind in which a flexible diaphragm a is subjected to the pressure differences due to the relative rates of flow of the controlled liquid through the full and restricted areas of a venturi tube inserted in the pipe line is constructed so as to be sensitive by connecting the diaphragm a by a link c, lever d, to a rod e attached to a double bellows device f, f<SP>1</SP> which permits the rod e to move without friction and operate a lever g which normally acts on a trip or tumbler arm i to hold the valve open. A weight h normally holds the trip arm so as to keep the valve open, but at a high speed of liquid the diaphragm is operated by the liquid pressure to release the trip.
