Class 135] The throat and full diameter pressures of a Venturi tube in a pipe line, act on mercury surfaces in the parts c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP> of a container pivoted at e. Excessive flow in the pipe line causes the container to tip and release trip mechanism g<SP>2</SP> operative to effect or initiate closing of a valve in the pipe line. The axes of the parts c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP> are at divergent angles of inclination to vary the leverages as the mercury is forced from one part to the other, and a weight h<SP>1</SP> and stop i are provided.
