[Class 135] A valve device adapted to be actuated by bending a flexible supply conduit secured to the valve casing has an actuating lever disposed inside the conduit and connected to the valve member by a universal joint. In the form shown in the Figure a tilting disc valve member 21 having an interrupted peripheral bead 22 is normally held against a seating washer 18 by water pressure and a spring 25 arranged between shoulders on the casing and valve member. The seating washer is clamped against a shoulder on the main casing by a screwed plug 40, which plug has an outlet extension 42 formed with a tapered passage 43 leading to the valve orifice 14. A piece of hose 44 is slipped on the outlet to serve as a protective buffer. The valve actuating lever 31 has a ball-end inserted in a spherical cavity in a boss 27 on the back of the valve member and passes through a central aperture in the perforated end of the inlet connection. The free end of the lever is furnished with a knob 48 adapted to be engaged by the inner wall of the hose 38 when it is bent aside from its normal position to open the valve. In a modification for use with compressed air, the knob 48 is mounted loosely on the lever which fulcrums about the inner edge of the inlet connection and the outlet extension is replaced by a reducing nozzle screwed into the plug 40. In a further modification a short length of hose connects the inlet tail on the casing to a similar tail on a coupling member screwed to a fixed supply conduit. In this case the lever fulcrums in the central aperture of a perforated disc screwed into the coupling member.
