Class 99 (i) In a joint in which a packing ring 4 is compressed on assembly by the spigot 7 in a recess in the socket which tapers slightly at 2 towards the restricted mouth 3, an additional ring 5 of semi-circular cross-section is arranged in the base of the socket with its flat side 6 directed radially. The ring 5 is of slightly smaller internal diameter than the ring 4.
