Abstract
194,774. Fehrenbach, F. Dec. 14, 1921. Spigot-and-socket screwed joints; with valves and cocks.-A valved conrecting-piece a for connecting a pipe to a tan &c. or to another pipe, of the kind in which the valve is opened when the parts are connected and closed automatically when the parts are disconnected, comprises two chambers e, f separated by a partition forming a seat g for a ball or cone valve h, on the screwed stem k of which is mounted the adjustable wing- disc m. A conical spring o, tending to close the valve, is capable of closing flat against the partition d. The ball h may have a rubber covering. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the valve is opened or closed by manipulation of the branch pipe r.
