Couplings, disconnectible; with valves.-A grease gun &c. 6 is coupled to the usual nipple 9 by means of radially movable locking members, such as balls 8, normally maintained in locking position by a rotatable controlling sleeve 10, and the sleeve and body 6 are provided with projecting lugs 10<a>, 6<c>, respectively, whereby partial rotation of the sleeve 10 can be readily effected against the action of a torsion spring 12, which occupies a recess 10<c> in the sleeve, to uncouple the members. One end 12a of the spring 12 is anchored to the body 6 through a notch 6d, and its other end 12b engages a hole 10<b> in the sleeve, while the sleeve is provided with recesses 10<d> adapted to receive the balls when rotated to unlock the coupling. The grease gun is provided internally with a piston 13 adapted to be moved by the nipple 9, to operate a spring-pressed ball valve 15 which controls the passage through said grease gun. The piston 13 is formed with an axial perforation, and operates said valve through a rod 17 which projects into a perforation 14a in a diaphragm 14, which provides a seating for the valve 15 in its closed position. Grease passes to the nipple 9 through the annular space between the holes 14a and the rod 17, a port 17<c> in said rod and the axial perforation in the piston. The flexible tube is preferably coupled to the grease gun by means of an union nut 23 screwed thereto, a spring-pressed packing 24 being provided to secure a fluid-tight joint.
