Abstract

220,162. Partridges, Ltd., and Mills, H. Aug. 2, 1923. Couplings, disconnectible; with valves. - A grease gun comprises a cylindrical body 1 provided at one end with a connector 2 having a delivery pipe 3, and at the other end with a rotatable and axially movable sleeve o for engaging with the usual nipple m. Within the bore of the cylindrer 1 is arranged an axially movable piston 8, provided on one face with a leather jointing disc 11 for co-operating with the face of the nipple m, and on the other face with a cup-leather 9 and a stem 10 which is adapted to open a spring- pressed valve 5 when connection with the nipple is made. Grease can pass through the piston by way of a radial and an axial passage 12. The sleeve o is formed with an eccentric aperture p to engage with a groove n in the nipple, while an inclined groove in the sleeve engaging a peg 13 on the cylinder causes the rotational movement thereof to be accompanied by a small axial movement.
