Abstract
281,844. Leach, R. W. Nov. 8, 1926. Rotary cylindrical valves.-A lubricant reservoir g is arranged between one end of a cylindrical plug valve a and the casing , and fluid under pressure controlled by the valve. is admitted to the opposite end to produce an axial pressure whereby lubricant is forced from the reservoir to axial and circumferential distributing channels. An aperture d admits the fluid to the under surface of the valve when the valve passage is open or also when this is closed. The reservoir is replenished through a bore in the valve stem provided with a screw plug which may embody a non-return valve k. Axial and annular grooves may be formed in the plug and deeper channels n in the casing or vice versa. The channels n partly surround the casing openings, the ends being connected by the axial grooves in the plug when the valve is closed. A lug l limits rotation of the plug to 90 degrees so that the axial grooves are not exposed to the fluid. Specification 29293/11, [Class 12 (ii), Lubricating passages &c.], is referred to.
