450,411. Waste and overflow valves. TENNANT, W. J., 111, Hatton Garden, London.-(Butzke-Bernard Joseph Akt.-Ges., F. ; 12, Ritterstrasse, Berlin) Jan. 16, 1935, No. 1506. [Class 135] A waste and overflow device for baths, wash-basins, bidets, &c. comprises a removable waste valve member 4 and mechanism for the operation thereof removably inserted in the upper end of the overflow channel 3, the mechanism including a lever 9 which is actuated by a device of small throw. As shown, an eccentric 15 rotatable by a knob 14 engages an adjustable screw pin 16 on the lever 9 just above its pivotal axis 10 so as to cause the lever to lift the valve 4. In other forms, a cam, cam slot, or eccentric stud rotatable with the knob 14 actuates the lever, and in a further modification, two vertical pins on the upper end of the lever engage the inner and outer faces of an eccentric hollow cylinder rotated by the knob 14. The pivot 10 engages at its ends in a hole and a slot in a sleeve 7 which is formed with a groove 20 adapted to engage an inward projection 19 on a mounting-ring 5 fixed to the basin 1. The eccentric 15 is inserted in a closing ring 6 and the knob 14 attached thereto, the sleeve 7 then being inserted into the ring 6 and secured thereto by soldering. The lever 9 is provided with guiding fins near its lower end and is preferably shaped at its lower end with a toe curved approximately parallel to the main part of the lever so as to prevent the end fouling the valve 4 as the lever is inserted. In another construction, the pivot of the lever 9 is above the pin 16.
