Abstract
556,666. Oil engines. SANDERS, A. F. March 13, 1942, No. 3371. [Class 7 (iii)] Injection of fuel takes place into a compact cavity 14, preferably. partspherical, provided at one side of the cylinder head and communicating through an opening 15, formed in a plane slightly inclined from the normal to the cylinder axis, with a space 17 formed at the same side of the cylinder head. In order to prevent particles of carbon from entering between the piston and cylinder, the piston crown is inclined at 18 slightly away from the cylinder wall so as not to contact therewith. The face 20 of the piston may be inclined, in whole or in part, parallel to the plane of the opening 15. Specifications 440,046 and 531,075 are referred to.
