Abstract

567,631. Combustion chambers. HENRY, G. H. Nov. 23, 1943, No. 19549. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] The crown of a piston A is formed with two recesses B<1>, B<2>, one on each side of a diameter, the recesses being interconnected by a passage B and constituting the combustion space. Each recess is provided with a sparking plug or fuel injector and the charge in one recess is fired before that in the other. The piston approaches to about one-sixteenth of an inch from the cylinder head, its upper surface is recessed opposite the cylinder valves, and it may have a conical or domed top.
