545,802. Two-stroke oil engines. PYK, H. T. May 20, 1940, No. 8965. Convention date, April 6. [Class 7 (iii)] In a two-stroke engine with a fuel injector 4 arranged centrally in the cylinder head, the combustion chamber is formed by a recess 8 in the cylinder head communicating at its periphery with an annular space 10 formed between conical faces on the cylinder head and piston, the latter having a coned face 2. There may be a corresponding recess 7 in the piston. In a modification the surface 3 of the cylinder head is also conical. The invention is specially applicable to an engine having pairs of scavenging-ports 11 which direct the scavenging-air against or along the cylinder wall opposite the exhaust ports 12, Fig. 6.
