Abstract

555,768. Fusible cut-outs. BESWICK, K. E., BESWICK, D. G. E., and MELBOURN, W. F. March 17, 1942, No. 3545. [Class 38 (i)] A fusible element 2 is supported by means of sheaths 1 of metal or insulation secured in the end caps of a fuse cartridge. The exposed central portion of the element may be of reduced cross-section, may be bent to a U or zig-zag shape and may be passed through a baffle 8. The sheaths may be flattened or crimped on to the element and insulating beads 4 may be located near the exposed portion to check arcing.
