Abstract
669,378. Fusible cut-outs. PARMITER, HOPE, & SUGDEN, Ltd. Sept. 22, 1950 [Oct. 4, 1949], No. 25510/49. Class 38 (i). In a fuse of the kind described in Specifications 14803/11, 217,626, [both in Class 38 (i)], 411,861, 493,100, 493,988 and 508,959, having two high fusing elements 11, 11a in parallel interconnected by a low fusing element 18, the elements 11, 11a are formed from a single metal strip 10 bent double on itself. Preferably the ends of the fuse are offset at 16, 16a, 22 in order that portions of the elements 11, 11a may be separated to allow arc-quenching powder to surround them. In a modification, Fig. 8, the strip 10 is bent over at the ends 20, 22 thereof and the elements are notched at 38 near the low fusing element 18 so that the elements 11, 11a are both discontinuous. The fuse preferably is mounted in one aperture 26 of a multi-apertured cartridge 24, and the ends 16, 16a are passed through a slot 32 in an end-cap 30 and, after bending over, soldered thereto, and the end 22 is guided by a wire 34 through the slot in the other end-cap 30 which is secured thereafter on the cartridge, the end 22 being soldered in place.
