Abstract

815,390. Fusible cut-outs. BESWICK, D. G. E., BESWICK, K. E., and MELBOURN, W. F. July 5, 1957 [Aug. 28, 1956], No. 26272/56. Class 38 (1). In a cartridge fuse, a pair of tensioned wires 8 are bent over one end of glass housing 1 and soldered to end cap 2 and a pair of conductor wires 9 are bent over the other end and soldered to the other end cap 2, opposing ends of the wires 8, 9 being secured in the bore 7 of a ferrule 5 by solder and a coil spring 3 also being soldered to an end cap 2 and abutting at its other end against flange 6 on ferrule 5, so that when the solder in bore 7 melts on overload, spring 3 contracts and a gap is formed to prevent arcing.
