Abstract

621,844. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 1, 1945, No. 13775. Convention date, June 3, 1944. [Class 38 (i)] A fuse having a spring-operated plunger-type indicator 13 of the construction described in Specification 566,310, comprises a fusible conductor 3 wound on a ribbed insulator 2 to which is bound the indicator housing 12, having holes 20, 22 by which are attached a fusible strain wire 19 and an auxiliary element 21, between which is an arc-gap 23 across which upon the operation of the fuse a potential is set up to fuse wire 19 and release the indicator. The ends of the insulator 2 have terminals 26 bound to the wires 3, 21, and bent at 29 for securing to the end caps 6, 7. The fuse is enclosed in arc-quenching material 4 in a tube 1, after the manner described in Specification 547,377, and conducting ferrules 9 are die-cast on the tube-ends.
