Abstract
753,353. fusible cut-outs. POTT, L. Dec. 15, 1953, No. 34817/53. Class 38 (1). A thermal control fuse comprises an upper part consisting of terminals 21, 22 secured to an insulator 16 housed in a casing 10 and secured to a metal sheath 14 with an insulating insert 28 having terminal wires 29, 30, and a detachable lower part 37 comprising a further metal sheath 38 with an insulating insert 39 and terminal wires 40, 41 held under tension by a fuse element 46 which blows either as a result of an overload current or of excess external heat and breaks the circuit. An insulating liner 47 and insert 48 are provided in part 37, the parts being connected by a union nut 33, locating pegs and holes 51, 36 being provided on bushes 49, 34 and spring ends 42, 43 making contact with the ends of terminal wires 29, 30 in insert 28. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the lower part of the fuse is omitted and the insulator and terminal wires extend through both metal sheaths, the ends of the wires being secured together by a fuse element as before.
