Abstract

1,078,413. Electrically released switches; protective arrangements. S. A. BARONE. Nov. 18, 1964 [Nov. 25, 1963], No. 46968/64. Headings H2B and H2K. A device for interrupting the supply of current to a piece of electrical equipment U when a short occurs between the circuitry of the equipment and a metallic housing &c. C intended to be at the potential of the neutral supply line 11 comprises a pair of normally open spring blade contacts 21, 22 held closed by one end 24 of a pivoted member 25, a fusible wire 28, connected between the neutral lead 18 of the supply and the housing C, being arranged to hold the member 25 in the contacts closed position. Upon a fault x occurring to create a voltage between housing C and the neutral, fuse 28 melts, releasing member 25 and allowing the contacts to open. An overload fuse 23 is included in series with the contacts.
