Abstract
637,961. Cut-outs. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and JACKSON, W. J. C. June 9, 1948, No. 15537. [Class 38 (i)] A cut-out responsive to overheating of an electrical device comprises an upright insulating tube A containing a body of fusible metal C such as Wood's metal between two terminals B, the metal C melting at a predetermined temperature to break the circuit between the terminals and being restored by placing the tube horizontally and fusing the metal to allow it to flow against the terminals and then solidify. The cut-out may be used with an electric fuse and the tube may be provided with a label indicating the operating temperature.
