1,018,641. Protective cut-out arrangements; electrically-released switches. C.M.S. CONSTRUCTION MECANO-SOUDEC. Jan. 9, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1962; July 12, 1962], No. 1019/63. Headings H2B and H2K. A device 1 for short-circuiting a tube of a luminous sign comprises an insulating sheath 2 containing a fixed contact member 12 and some solder 23 retaining a spring-biased moving contact 22 on a fixed contact 19 until arcing between contact points 17, 21, causes the solder 23 to melt and release contact 22 which then engages fixed contact member 12 to which it is united by the solder. A resistance 13, equivalent to the resistance of the short-circuited tube, is included in the circuit made through the device 1.
