Abstract

648,031. Fusible cut-outs. BESWICK, K. E. Nov. 9, 1948, No. 29118. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] In a cartridge fuse comprising a tubular body 13 with end caps 14a, 14b, one end of one of a pair of springy wires 10, 11 is secured to each end cap, the other ends being joined by solder 12 so that on sufficient overload current flowing to melt the solder, the ends of the wires will fly apart. The wires are initially curved and joined as shown in Fig. 1 to form an S ; during connection to the end caps they are pulled straight so as to place them under tension.
