Abstract

1,059,022. Fusible cut-outs. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 7, 1964 [Feb. 8, 1963], No. 5145/63. Heading H2G. A fuse element comprises a rectangular strip of silver 10 with at least two full portions 12 joined by a neck portion 11, the thickness and width of which are less than that of the full portions in order to reduce the overall resistance and at the same time provide good heat dissipation. The ratio of the crosssectional area of the full portions to that of the neck portion is approximately 10:1. The neck portion may be formed by making a laterally extending groove in the strip and producing inwardly directed slots from the ends of the groove. A thickened portion 13 along the strip further reduces the overall resistance of the element.
