Abstract

1,091,519. Automatic circuit-breakers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Oct. 22, 1965 [Nov. 12, 1964], No. 44813/65. Heading H2B. In a circuit-breaker having an electromagnetic tripping device 99, 115 responsive to overcurrent of a predetermined value and a bimetallic tripping device 111 responsive to overcurrent below that value, the electromagnetic tripping device on operation closes auxiliary contacts 141, 143 to shunt the bi-metallic device to prevent damage to this device by high overcurrents. The contacts 141, 143 are mounted on the armature 99 and the yoke 115 of the electromagnetic device, the yoke 115 being magnetized by the current flowing in the bimetal 111. The general arrangement of the circuit-breaker is that of Specification 926,792. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 926,792.
