Abstract
812,070. Cut-outs. BELLING & LEE Ltd. Feb. 8, 1957 [Feb. 16, 1956], No. 4832/56. Class 38 (1). A fuse has a fusible link 6 under tension and soldered to spring arms 7, 8 secured to contact strips 9, 10, the assembly being mounted on an insulating sheet 1 by lugs 2 . . . 5, strip 10 having a hooked end for engaging lug 4. The lugs are preferably insulating and may be formed integral with the sheet 1. Several such fuses may be arranged in parallel side by side (Fig. 2, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 3), an insulating sheet 13 is formed with lugs 14, 15 and a rectangular aperture 16 which receives an insulating pillar 17 (Fig. 5), carrying a terminal contact strip 20, spring contact-arm 22 and receiving the T-junction of spring arm 26 and strip 27 in a slot 19. The link 24 is soldered to arms 22, 26 and strip 20 fits round lugs 14, 15. Two fuses may be arranged in parallel (Fig. 6, not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 9, the assembly is mounted on lugs 49, 50, 51 integral with an insulating member 48, parts of the spring arms 57, 59 and contact strips 55, 60 being housed in grooves 52, 53 in lugs 49, 51 respectively while part of the link 58 lies in a groove 54 in lug 50. Alternatively, the fuse link may be a loop 44 and hooked over parts 42, 43 of the spring arms (Fig. 7), or loops may be formed at the end of a single wire link (Fig. 8, not shown). It is also stated that the contact strips and spring arms may be formed from a single metal strip, or coiled wire springs may replace the resilient strip spring arms. Covers for the fuse links may be provided, and the insulating parts of the fuse are of, for example, polythene, p.v.c. cellulose acetate or nylon. Specifications 643,561 and 741,117 are referred to.
