Abstract
1,086,122. Automatic circuit-breakers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 12, 1965 [April 14, 1964], No.15392/65. Heading H2B. In a circuit-breaker having a trip-bar 18 which is rotated in one direction by an overloadresponsive bimetallic strip (not shown) to trip the circuit-breaker, the trip-bar 18 is spring- biased in the opposite direction by an ambienttemperature compensating bimetallic strip 24. This strip is fixed at one end to the casing and has its other end connected to the trip bar 18 by a tension spring 25, an increase in ambient temperature causing the strip 24 to increase the tension of the spring. The compensation is limited by the co-operation of a stop projection 26 on the bimetallic strip 24 with an abutment 27 provided in the casing.
