Abstract

480,044. Fusible cut-outs. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and SLATER, W. F. Dec. 29, 1936, No. 35638. [Class 38 (i)] In a fuse cartridge comprising an insulating casing containing several fusible elements connected in parallel, the casing and metal end-caps therefor are of elongated shape with flat sides, the sides of the end-caps forming the contact surfaces of the cartridge. In the construction shown, the fuse wires 1 are enclosed in separate tubes 5 from which they pass through tube plugs 6 and a casing plug 8 to the end-caps 3 on the outside of which they are soldered. The tubes and casing are filled with an inert material such as sand. The inner walls 11 of the casing 2 may be flat as shown or may be formed with curved ribs which form a series of substantially circular passages surrounding the tubes 5. In a modification the tubes 5 may be dispensed with and the wires 1 located directly in circular passages in the casing 2. The casing may have a covering of metal insulated from the end-caps.
