551,487. Electricity supply to electric discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and GRAPES, G. T. Aug. 22, 1941, No. 10736. [Class 38 (iv)] The current flow through a discharge lamp L is controlled without appreciably affecting the stability of the discharge by connecting the lamp across a semi-resonant circuit, consisting of series inductance Li and shunt condenser C, and including in the lamp circuit itself a series variable resistance R or variable inductance. In the circuit shown, a fixed series inductance Li and variable resistance R are employed.
