Abstract

916,032. Supply systems for discharge lamps. FIELD & SON Ltd., H. W., and TREBY, F. L. April 14, 1959 [April 22, 1958], No. 12755/58. Class 38 (4). A gas discharge lamp 3 has filamentary electrodes 1, 2 which are heated by means of a transformer 4, ballasting being effected by an inductor divided into two parts 5, 6, the part 5 being connected between an input terminal Ti and electrode 1 and part 6 between input terminal T2 and electrode 2. The primary winding of the transformer is in series with the inductor part 6 across the input terminals. A power factor correction condenser C is connected across terminals T1, T2 through a tapping on part 6 of the inductor to provide an additional pulse when the circuit is first switched on.
