Abstract

897,828. Supply circuits for space-discharge lamps. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Feb. 6, 1959 [Feb. 21, 1958], No. 4259/59. Class 38 (4). A fluorescent lamp is provided with a resistive ballast in the form of a controllable transistor. A fluorescent lamp 16 is supplied from a D.C. source UN by way of an oscillator 1, which produces alternating current having a rectangular waveform, the alternating current being fed from the oscillator output transformer 1a to a transformer 3, which feeds the lamp 16, over half-wave discriminating devices 2a, 2b, the connection between the centre taps on the transformer windings containing a transistor 4. By means of a further transistor 9 and voltage dividers 5, 6 and 7, 8, the transistor 4 is controlled to function as a resistive ballast for the lamp 16. The lamp has filamentary electrodes which are heated by means of a transformer 10, a transistor 12 being supplied to prevent heating current being developed after the lamp has ignited.
