Abstract
832,541. Supply systems for discharge lamps. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 31, 1958 [Feb. 1, 1957], No. 3655/57. Class 38 (4). In a transformer fed circuit for supplying series connected discharge lamps, the transformer is provided with one or more air gaps to substantially reduce the flux density therein. The transformer has tightly coupled primary and secondary windings 15, 16 supplying the discharge current to lamps 10, 11 through a choke 24 and a capacitor 25, and heater windings 17-19 connected to the lamp cathodes 20-23. An additional capacitor 26 ensures uniformly sequential starting. The transformer air gaps and positions of the windings are adjustable. The dimentional details of the transformer are given in the Specification.
