878,925. Supply systems for space discharge lamps. VALCHERA, V. Jan. 29, 1960 [Feb. 26, 1959], No. 6787/59. Class 38 (4). A circuit for improving the power factor of a discharge lamp-choke combination 10, 15 connected across an A.C. supply 13, 14 particularly from a vibrator unit, comprises a leading current series choke 16 and capacitor 17 combination also connected across the supply. A second capacitor 19 may be connected as shown, to increase the voltage across the lamp on starting. A transformer 18 may be connected across the lamp to supply heating current to electrodes 11, 12.
