680,362. Supply systems for space discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., CLARKE, M. G., and PRIVETT, H. L. Jan. 12, 1951 [Jan. 30, 1950], No. 2387/50. Class 38 (iv). The voltage drop in a series stabilizing inductance 3 caused by the current taken by the primary winding 3 of a transformer during the period when its secondary windings 4, 5 supply heating current to the electrodes 6 of a lowpressure discharge lamp 7 is neutralized by connecting a condenser 9 in parallel with the primary winding 2. The transformer, which also supplies discharge current, may be autowound as shown, or double-wound, and the lamp has an earthed starting electrode 8. A power factor correction condenser may be connected across the supply terminals 1. Specification 643,642, [Group XL (a)], is referred to.
