Abstract
977,639. Discharge lamp circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 2, 1962 [March 6, 1961], No. 8194/62. Heading H2H. A circuit for adjusting the power input to at least two discharge tubes of substantially identical characteristics comprises a predominant capacitor 41, an inductor 51, and an adjustable common inductor 3, 4. The higher power input preferably occurs when the inductor has its maximum value, which corresponds to the normal power consumption for the lamp. With inductor 3 present, the supply voltage is set up across the first lamp to strike, but due to the resonance effect, the voltage rises as each subsequent lamp strikes. A heater transformer 61, 71, 81 may be provided for each lamp.
