Abstract

816,302. Discharge lamp circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Sept. 11, 1957 [Sept. 19, 1956; Nov. 14, 1956], Nos. 28676/56 and 34821/56. Class 38 (4). In a circuit for operating a fluorescent lamp, or plurality of lamps 1 in series, the lamp heaters 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are arranged in series with a power factor capacitor 8 across the supply 6. The discharge current flowing between separate electrodes 3, 3<SP>1</SP> is controlled by a choke 5. To assist starting a conductive strip may be secured to the internal or external wall of the lamp. The strip may be left unconnected, earthed, or connected to a selected point in the circuit. Specification 541,489 is referred to.
