One end of the resistor R11 is connected to the point A and another end is connected to the cathode of the diode 16, and the anode of the diode is directly connected to the DC power supply b. As the result, the applyng voltage of the gas discharge panel is doubled, enabling easilty to make easy the initial illumination of the gas discharge panel. Further, the introduction of the mis-display of the gas discharge panel due to excessive voltag application, increase in power consumption, and cost up fo the usage of the high break-down voltage can easily be prevented
