674,249. Supply systems for series connected space discharge apparatus. EKCO-ENSIGN ELECTRIC, Ltd., and HAEGELE, F. G. A. Aug. 21, 1950 [Aug. 24, 1949], No. 21973/49. Class 38 (iv). In a circuit arrangement in which two electric discharge lamps A, B are serially connected between A.C. supply mains and each has a separate thermally-operated starting switch S1, S2 and pre-heatable filamentary electrodes serially connected through the starting switch which is shunted by the lamp discharge, a choke coil L is connected directly between one electrode of each lamp and the other electrodes are connected to the supply terminals. The switches may be of the glow discharge type and a condenser C corrects power factor.
