Abstract
667,764. Supply systems for space discharge lamps. C.A.V., Ltd. July 14, 1949 [July 22, 1948; April 4, 1949], Nos. 19611/48 and 9061/49. Class 38 (iv). An arrangement for operating a gas discharge lamp d from a low-voltage D.C. source such as a battery b comprises a condenser f shunted across the lamp discharge path, an inductance a connected across the lamp and an interrupter g in series therewith or the inductance may be in series with the lamp and the interrupter in parallel, the inductance serving also as the winding controlling the interrupter contacts. A plurality of parallel connected lamps d, d1, d2, Fig. 2, may be supplied from a common battery b by providing an inductance a, a1, a2, and interrupter for each lamp and arranged so that the inductance associated with one lamp operates the interrupter associated with the next lamp.
