Abstract
522,917. Electricity supply to discharge lamps. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., LE MARECHAL. W. H., and ALDINGTON, J. N. Dec. 21, 1938, No. 37129. [Class 38 (iv)] A metal vapour discharge lamp has connected in shunt with it a metal filament lamp having a rated voltage above the running voltage of the discharge lamp and below the mains voltage so that, during the operation of the discharge lamp, the current in the filament is below its rated value and whereby, if the discharge is accidentally extinguished while the mains voltage is still applied, the filament is overrun and gives an adequate illumination during the time taken for the discharge lamp to recommence its discharge.
