Abstract

527,497. Supply systems for discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 21, 1939, No. 8978. Convention date, March 22,1938. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] A discharge lamp 1 is supplied from an A.C. source through an inductance 7 and condenser 8 in series, a second inductance 9 being in shunt to the lamp. The inductance 9 may be in series with the electrodes to provide a heating circuit at starting ; it may form the primary of a transformer for heating the electrodes. Two lamps 1, 1<SP>1</SP> may be arranged in series with a single inductance and condenser in series in the supply circuit, but independent inductances 19. 19<SP>1</SP> in parallel with the lamps. The lamp may have a fluorescent coating. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 344,439 and 357,492.
