Abstract
494,045. Control systems for discharge lamps. MINSON, J. J. Aug. 3, 1937, Nos. 21436 and 21437. Convention dates, Aug. 5, 1936 and Nov. 17, 1936. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In apparatus for producing a luminous flow effect, wherein a contact 18 is adapted to pass over terminals 15, connected to the lamp electrodes, an auxiliary gas-discharge tube 19 is connected as shown to a further terminal 20 so that the lamp is extinguished when the contact 18 passes over the terminal 20. A number of lamps, or one lamp provided with a number of auxiliary electrodes, may be used. The auxiliary electrodes may have a surface area of not more than one-thirtieth of that of the main electrodes. The contact 18 may have a number of fingers which are adapted to slide over a number of inclined segments, each of which has a similar number of terminals connected to the electrodes.
