Abstract
473,347. Supply systems for discharge lamps. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and ALDINGTON, J. N. April 9, 1936, No. 10537. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] A discharge lamp, adapted to operate at a mercury-vapour pressure of at least two atmospheres is connected in series with an incandescent metal filament, and the loading of the lamp is not less than 20 watts per c.c. The filament is overloaded during the short time in which the lamp is ignited, but during normal operation runs slightly below its rated current. The loading of the discharge lamp is preferably about equal to, but not greater than, that of the filament. The lamp may be housed in a gas-filled glass bulb in which the filament is arranged. Specific ratings of the discharge lamp and of the filament are included in the Specification.
