Abstract

516,206. Supply for discharge lamps; transformer arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., DEBENHAM, W. F. S., and FRANCIS, V. J. July 18, 1938, No. 21261. [Class 38 (iv)] An A.C. supply system for a highpressure mercury vapour discharge lamp includes a known form of inductance ele men t such as a stray field transformer or a choke with a number of windings each independent and capable of connection in series, or in opposition to suit the particular mains voltage to which the discharge lamp is to be connected. An arrangement employing a stabilizing choke, adjustable as stated, consists of an iron core with three windings 230, 10, 5 each brought out to separate terminals 13 to 18. Terminal 13 is connected to the lamp 12 which is connected .with one terminal of the supply the other terminal of which can be connected by links to any one of the terminals 13 to 18 and the terminals themselves interconnected by links to suit the supply voltage.
